Ausley's is proud to announce our latest project. We are calling it PROJECT ZO-66. This 12,000 original mile Malibu is the start. It is white with an almost perfect turquoise interior.

The turquoise interior is in excellent condition, and as you can see only 12,000 actual miles.

2009 6L-80 out of a Pontiac G-8 will provide the shifting.

The heart of Project ZO-66 is this 2009 ZO-6 engine with only 400 miles.

The front end has been disassembled, getting ready for the body to come off.

The rust free body on the rotisserie.

Here is the frame. It's out with the original drive train and off to the sandblaster.

Here the body has been placed on a donor chassis for the trip to the paint shop.

After the frame was sandblasted and painted, the steering box and front suspension components were ready for installation.

Special thanks go out to The Right Stuff for furnishing the front disc brake setup and all brake and fuel lines. All of these items are available from Ausley's, however there is an additional charge for the powder-coated calipers and slotted rotors.

Setting the engine in place to get measurements and other requirements for the ZO-6 installation. A special oil pan had to be ordered and fabricated along with special headers from Street and Performance.

Ford 9" rear with 3:70 gears from Spraker Racing with The Right Stuff rear disc brake setup installed. The next step is to disassemble the brake setup in preparation for painting. NOTE: This rear end was shortened by 3/4" on each side to allow for wider wheels and tires. NOTE: These rear ends are custom-made for your application and available from Ausley's Chevelle Parts. They utilize all-original hangars and brackets for easy installation and come with all-new internal and external components.

Engine and transmission installed in chassis, with wiring harness in place. Note: Tail shaft of transmission had to be changed to accept a yoke for the drive shaft.

Side view showing engine installation. Next up is drive shaft and complete pipes exhaust system.

Pypes exhaust provided stainless steel exhaust and mufflers for our project. Custom aluminum driveshaft also installed.

Here is a close-up of the Pypes stainless-steel mufflers.

Here is the custom aluminum radiator supplied by Tapp Inc. based out of Sophia, NC.

Electric fans will help provide sufficient cooling for the 500+HP engine.

Here the body is ready to be placed back onto the frame. Ronald Phillippie of Burlington applied the original white color. Auto City Classics furnished all the glass and here you can see the back glass has been installed.

Doug Garrett has re-attached the body to the frame with new body mounts and now the process of reinstalling the original interior will begin.

Here is another photo of the body after being re-attached to the frame. Here you can see the windshield furnished by Auto City Classics that has been installed.

The turquoise interior was so nice on this car that we reinstalled the original carpet. Next will be the dash, gauges and steering column.

The engine installed in the car.
